A Simple Smoothie

Overall I wouldn't consider myself a big fan of the smoothie, but I am quite partial to this simple banana smoothie which is so easy you could probably make it with your eyes closed. I usually use over ripe frozen bananas but today I had a fresh banana just about to turn, so I used that instead and it did the job. In a blender chuck in a whole banana, a generous table spoon of Greek yogurt, a small scoop of ice-cream, milk & a small squeeze of honey and blend. Easy peasy! By the time I got around to having lunch today it was after 3pm and verging on dinner territory so this was a convenient late lunch solution.

More Sleep, More Music, More Tea

[ yes ]
Last week I mentioned how I've been trying different methods of getting things done, and how I crossed a couple of 'big' things off of my list. It has been such a relief to get those tasks that really add an unnecessary weight on your mind, crossed off and no longer yours to worry about. I keep track of most of the ideas and projects I really want to work on, but feel like I can't start until I've got some of my creative mental clutter dealt with and out of the way. Yesterday I put a couple of illustration in the post that I have been wanting to complete and send for quite some time, and it felt so good to see them go into the post box. I have one last creative project to work on that I promised to a friend a while ago that has been on my mind and then I'll have a clean slate to start new projects for myself. I cannot wait, I have so many ideas & projects that I want to work - opening an Etsy store being my main focus. But before I throw myself into that project I need to do more of the above.

Daily Adventures / Park Life

Yesterday afternoon we took Romy to the park after her midday nap. We packed her some snacks and it wasn't until we got halfway to the park that we realised that we didn't pack ourselves anything (or even had lunch), so we made a quick detour to the nearest takeaway store and picked up some hot chips, gravy and ginger beer. It was such a lovely, sunny day to be outside. One thing I have noticed since having a baby of my own is that kids love other kids! Every small child that either walked or rode their bike past us couldn't stop looking at Romy and telling their parents to ''look at the little bubba" and some even asked if they could say hello to her, it was so sweet and nice. Romy had a little swing on the park swing set, although she wasn't as keen on it as the one at my parents house, but she still enjoyed it. Hopefully we can sneak in a few more park dates before this lovely weather wraps up.

"a portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"
My parents put up a swing in their yard on Saturday and Romy LOVED it! Our little Bear is becoming quite the danger mouse really getting into things, so while my Mum pushed her gently on the swing, I gave her a firmer push and she really liked going a bit higher! This week we've also been sitting her on the top of our lounge & she throws herself off into our arms. She is definitely a little thrill seeker!

Pizza Sunday

Roasted Vegetables, Chilli, Garlic & Parmesan
Tonight's pizza was a pretty bold punch to the taste buds, thanks to Luke's generous use of chilli and garlic. Either way, it was pretty tasty and not very similar to the pizza toppings we usually have. I don't mind eggplant, but I do prefer to have it with other things and it worked quite well on the pizza tonight. We roasted eggplant & red + green capsicums with olive oil and pink Himalayan rock salt, finely diced fresh garlic and chillies,  topped with mushrooms, black olives, red onion & shredded parmesan.
I would definitely put this pizza on my favourite list and could see this being a regular family favourite of ours.

Let's Catch Those Dreams

I have always been drawn to these bedroom commodities for as long as I can remember. When I bought my first dream catcher I didn't know much about where they were from or what they were about. I have always just found them to be beautiful and calming. While I can see how some people may find them to be offensive because of their cultural appropriation, I find them to be a dreamy marriage of natural elements and structural form. They may not be every bodies cup of tea, but there sure are a lot of great ways to style them into everyday spaces.

Write A List

[ here ]
Lately I've been trying out different ways of doing things, so rather than writing a little to-do list everyday, I've taken to writing one week long list and adding one task from my 'big' to-do list each week. Today I crossed off two 'big' tasks and it felt pretty darn good! In the evenings when the day is done I find it incredibly hard to sit and just watch something guilt free, I need to be multitasking so I don't feel like I'm not doing anything. And the thought of all of those bigger tasks starts to really weigh me down, so I'm determined to wipe my slate clear and start on some new projects without the boring grown up things to do first.
