Let's Catch Those Dreams

I have always been drawn to these bedroom commodities for as long as I can remember. When I bought my first dream catcher I didn't know much about where they were from or what they were about. I have always just found them to be beautiful and calming. While I can see how some people may find them to be offensive because of their cultural appropriation, I find them to be a dreamy marriage of natural elements and structural form. They may not be every bodies cup of tea, but there sure are a lot of great ways to style them into everyday spaces.

I Wanna See Your Peacock

Originally imported from East Asia, these outdoor statement pieces were inspired by the splendid peacock throne originally designed for Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Peacock chairs were ever present in the 60's until the 70's when they became an outdated commodity. In the last five years or so they have been creeping up in major furniture lines accompanied with an indulgent price tag.So your best bet would be to source a second hand number and make a weekend project out of it.

Pin Of The Week

A couple of years ago I saw on a home improvement type show a bedroom makeover that implemented a birdhouse for a bedside table, and it's something I've wanted to do ever since. I think it would be a great idea for a children's bedroom. Especially lining the back of the birdhouse with bright & fun patterns to match the rest of your bedroom decor.

An attic space doesn't just have to be the space in-between you and your roof, with coats of white paint and Ikea shelves for your craft supplies. It can go in the opposite direction and become a space to just sit and be. But you will need some sort of cute garland. And pillows, you will always need pillows!

Put A Pin In It

I love this little wall art cluster that is complemented by the wooden hall desk. I am keeping this idea in mind in case I have an unfilled space in my next living room or open hallway.

I am quite fond of the storage-as-decor trend at the moment. Most of the time I find myself with more things than I do ways of storing/keeping/displaying them, so appealing storage solutions like bright wire baskets would be a perfect. Not to mention, how cute something like this would be in a boring laundry space.

Pin Of The Week

This is exactly how I like to spend the first ten minutes of Romy's midday nap time - sitting at my kitchen table with a vase of fresh flowers, reading a magazine with a cup of coffee and my lunch.

Over the last 8 months or so Luke & I have been slowly adding colourful pieces to our house, and while I mostly love it, sometimes I wish Luke would get on board with the simple B&W combo.

Pin Of The Week

The house that Luke, Romy & I currently live in has a psychotic oven, I'm talking can bake a lasagne in  ten minutes kind of psycho. So this means that we are very limited with what actually goes in there, and baking the likes of breads and cookies is completely out of the question. So I like to spend a great deal of time thinking about all of the amazing treats I will (learn to) bake when our lease ends up in March and we move. And when I do begin my baking adventures I will be sure to invest in the sweetest little cookie stamp I can find!

These clear umbrellas always seem to be on my wish list, but never seem to be on my mind at the shops. I definitely will be needing one for next Winter.

Pin Of The Week

My sister found these on Pinterest this morning and texted them to me.
Clearly Romy needs a pair of these for next winter, especially because she'll be up and about and and all good bears need warm feet.

I cannot believe in all the years I have had the internet I have never seen anything like this on my google searches. Making one of these chairs has just been added to my bucket list.

Quirky crockery and striped paper straws are cute, don't get me wrong, but a last minute put together brunch has a comforting modesty to it that I prefer.

Now that Romy is settled in her nightly routine, I've got a little bit more time to myself and I've started to get the nail art itch again.

I love a good feature wall, or collection of furniture that is well designed and makes a statement, but when your space doesn't suit a feature wall the next best thing is an understated corner feature space. I love how this side table is decorated moderately to create a space for your interest to focus on comfortably.
