Top 5 / TV Shows I'm Currently Watching

Last month I shared my first top five post listing my favourite albums, and this time around my top five tv shows that I'm currently watching.
Pretty Little Liars / When PLL came out it replaced my Gossip Girl void when I started to lose interest after the tenth war between B & S, and gladly so! If you haven't given PLL's a go, you should defo check it out! It is a little tacky at first, but once you get used to that aspect of the show, the rest of it is quite interesting and more importantly the main characters have killer wardrobes! I'm getting super excited for when the Halloween episode special airs next week, especially to see how Ezra found himself in the A lair. I refused to believe he is on the A team, let a lone Big A. I think Big A is Wren. If you watch it, what do you think?

How I Met Your Mother / Are you as glad as I am to finally get to the freaking end of Ted's story?! So far the season has been quite frustrating circumstantially, but the main characters are dramatic story tellers so it is kind of a given. The season highlight so far for me was in 'The Broken Code' when Robin tries to get along with other women to prove to Lily that she likes other women besides her. And when Lily meets The Mother on the train and they share a couple of 'some bitches' together!

The Bachelor / I initially hated the concept of The Bachelor until I actually watched it with my full attention. Those damn re-runs caught me out a couple of Saturday's ago while I was trying to settle Romy to sleep and ever since I've just been really into it! There are so many 'I can't believe these girls are carrying on like this' moments for it to not be so distastefully pleasing. I'm looking forward to this weeks episodes now that Penny has gone back to her home on desperate island.

Wonderland / When the previews came on for this new show I was keen to check it out and all of the hype killed it for me when I actually saw the first episode, and missed the following few episodes after that. They were a couple of re-runs during the week that I caught and picked up the rest for the ads throughout the week for me to get interested in again and I gave it another go. I like that it has a similar vibe to 'The Secret Life Of Us', which was such a great Australian drama.

Beverly Hills 90210 / Now that Romy has been napping more seriously during the day I use that time to have a coffee and just only do one thing, and that one thing this week has been picking up where Luke & I left off over a year ago and with the old school Beverly Hills 90210 season three. We endeavoured to watch the entire series together, but the first couple of seasons weren't fast paced enough for Luke and not enough Dylan story lines for his liking so he lost interest. And I held out for so long in the hopes he might change his mind, but that clearly wasn't going to happen so this week I dusted off season three and fell back into the dramatic West Beverly whirlwind!

Top 5 / Favourite Albums

I don't usually post a lot about the types of music or movies I'm into,
so I thought I would share my top five favourite albums. Although I have a lot more than five, I picked these five because I never get sick of them.
The National / High Violet  About six years ago I crossed paths with someone I met at a gig who was really into The National and got me into them. I was instantly drawn into their confident mix of moody lyrics and music you could only sway to drunkenly. Their first two albums I listened to on high rotation  for most of 2009. By the time High Violet was released, Luke was on board with The National and liked HV instantly, while I didn't love it straight away. In fact, it took me a good two years to come around to it and now it is one of my favourite albums of all time. If only it could be re-released with 'Karen' & 'Apartment Story' and I would be all set!

She & Him / Vol. Two  A long time ago an internet buddy emailed me this album and it sat in my iTunes for a good 12 months before I listened to it properly. Occasionally it would catch my attention while I was working on my computer and each time I started to like it more and more and would find a couple of the tracks stuck in my head for days at a time. I was completely oblivious to the fact it was Zooey Deschanel's folky howl I couldn't stop listening to. If I ever make mixed cds I always find a space for one of Vol. Two's gems. This album has back to back friendly songs that are hard to tire of.

Hole / Live Through This  I bought this album when I was 14 and ten years later it is still one of my favourite albums. When I first started listening to bands like Hole and Bikini Kill, they had an energetic burst of sass mouth that I really liked as a teenage girl. When I listen to this album now it reminds me of one of my best friends who I met through our shared love of 90's girl grunge bands.

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan / Ballad Of The Broken Seas  This album was released right around the time that I first started listening to Belle & Sebastian. I was familiar with Mark Lanegan, but was never too particularly interested in his music. I bought the cd regardless and instantly fell in love with every track. It is a great album to have on in the background of an evening of dinner and drinks. I personally feel the songs on BOTBS are some of Isobel Campbell's better songs, and this is their best collaborative album together.

Cut Copy / In Ghost Colours This album reminds me of my first year living in Newcastle, and having pre-drinks in my bedroom with my friend Ali before going out. Whenever we were out and about driving 'So Haunted' & 'Lights & Music' would always be on JJJ & we used to sing it really loud in an exaggerated lonely boy scenester voice. If I am struggling to find motivation to clean the house or start an illustration, I always put this album on to get things done!

Five Useless Things About Me

I'm a list maker. I make them about lots of things, I even make lists about making lists. I get a little list making high and just keep going! Rather than count sheep or count backwards when trying to get to sleep, I'll go through the next days to-do-list in my mind to help me ease into sleep.

I own almost all of Jackie Collins' books. After I read Valley Of The Dolls when I was 15 my Mum suggested I try reading some Jackie Collins. We went to a second hand book store together and I picked up Hollywood Wives & Rockstar and fell in love with her novels! I know they're tacky, but I love how involved they are, and how she always has three of four different stories going on that make sense as they all come together in the end. Do not even get me started on Gino Santangelo!

I'm scared of snakes. Not the common scared of snakes type scared, the type where every single time I go to the toilet I think about them scared. When my Sister & I were younger there was a story on the news about a little boy finding a snake in his toilet and ever since then I've thought about it every time I need to pee. There have been a few times that I've given myself a panic attack because I was sure there was one in the toilet. I wish I was kidding.

I am one of those disgusting people that likes pimples. It drives my husband crazy! If he has a pimple on his face, or anywhere I can see, I will not be able to focus on our conversations until its gone and we've spoken about it. If I'm waiting for something in my car, or can't sleep, I will watch pimple/blackhead pore strip/abscess videos on youtube. It is a disgusting fascination that I share with a couple of my cousins, and when we have weekends away together it is a hot topic much to my sisters dismay.

I take hanging clothes on the line way too seriously. If Luke helps out with the washing I can't watch him do it because he doesn't use the same coloured pegs on each item, or keep the clothes in their groups. I keep all the smalls together, the shirts together based on their style and if their mine or Luke's, and need all the pegs to be the same colour on each row. I especially like to fuss over and hang out Romy's little clothes. I end up adding extra time on this mundane task, but now that I'm a SAHM its okay!
