Romy's first Christmas was wonderful! We went back to Gunnedah, a small country town where I was born and grew up. Most of my family still live there, and the cousins that have moved away were home for Christmas. So I got to spend the day with most of my family, which was just the best! We arrived in Gunnedah Monday night & I spent the evening talking to my Granny. Tuesday morning Romy & I visited an old high school friend and her super cute daughter and we had cups of tea and drooled over all of her lovely things. After our visit we went back to my Granny's house to make rum balls, and then we had a family dinner with my family that live a little bit out of town in this really amazing farm house. They have the most impressive bar cart you have ever seen, and we had lots of cocktails. We also spilled lots of cocktails! I woke up on Christmas morning feeling slightly unwell, but watching Romy enjoy her first Christmas morning opening presents distracted me until my teeny tiny hangover passed. We did the Christmas visiting rounds before we went to my Aunty's for our family Christmas dinner. After a few days away I'm generally keen to get back to my routine and own space, but I was a little sad to leave Gunnedah and my family this time around because we had such a wonderful time together!

A Quiet Christmas

I can't believe Christmas has been and gone already! My family had a low key kind of Christmas this year. I have a big extended family and every year we take turns in having Christmas at each families house, but this year everyone did their own thing. This year it was a wet & cold Christmas, which is the complete opposite of what this time of the year is generally like here in Australia. Our day started off early so we could go to my parents house and all have breakfast together before Luke had to go to work. It was my favourite kind of breakfast - fluffy pancakes, soaked muesli & fruit. Afterwards we had our present opening session, and we got lots of of cute things for our baby. My sister bought us a baby mat in the shape of a ginger cat, which was by far my favourite thing! Luke & I bought ourselves a joint present this year, we got a Wii & the James Bond movie box set. 

After presents I took Luke to work and went home and made a salad, tidied up and stocked up on some movies and went back to my parents house. When I got there we had cups of tea + Christmas cake and watched a movie all wrapped up in throw rugs. I fell asleep and when I woke up it was lunch time. While everyone else had seafood, my Mum made me a Mexican bean pie. After lunch we watched another movie and started a game of cards while we waited for Luke to finish work. He finished around 5pm and while he ate his Christmas lunch my brother-in-law set up the Wii and they played Mario Kart. My parents neighbours came over for dinner, and some of my parents friends did also, so while they were having drinks outside, things got heated inside over an intense game of Phase Ten between Luke, my sister Ash, my brother-in-law Allan & myself. Tantrums were thrown, and apologies were said!

All up it was a nice, quiet Christmas with my family. And I'm guessing its going to be our last quiet one for a while! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and Santa was good to you!

Christmas

I can't believe Christmas has already been and gone, this year has just flown by!

Usually my family goes back to our home town, Gunnedah, for Christmas, but this year we stayed at the Coast for a family Christmas. Saturday morning Luke & I woke up a little later than expected and hurried ourselves to my parents house to open presents and have breakfast before Luke had to go to work (yep :( on Christmas). My parents bought us all a family holiday to Fiji in March next year! It was a pretty amazing present! After we opened presents we had pancakes & fruit for breakfast, then I had to rush Luke off to work. 

When I got back to my parents house, we had cups of tea and played cards while my Dad & my brother-in-law Allan made lunch. It was such a lovely, sunny day, totally unlike the last couple of weeks. It really hasn't been a proper summer here this year. I picked Luke up in the late afternoon, and we had drinks, and the neighbours came over for drinks and Christmas dinner. To finish a lovely day off we watched Bridesmaids and drank whiskey.
