35 Weeks

The final countdown has begun as this week marks the 35th week of my pregnancy! This week has gone especially fast because I've had three days off, which is the longest amount of time I have spent at home throughout my pregnancy. Up until last week I had been working 5-6 days a week, but have started to cut my hours back because my feet are starting to get really swollen. If Ursula The Sea Witch had feet, they would look like mine do at the end of the day! Last week when I had two days off work I felt a little lost for what to do, but I was totally fine with it this week. I treated myself to the complete box set of Desperate Housewives so when I finish up work before the baby arrives I'll be set! I had my baby shower last weekend, which was an absolute blast! My Sister & Mum made it such a fantastic afternoon with miniature tea party delights, it was beautiful. I can't wait to see all the photos and to share them on here. Our little baby got absolutely spoilt, so much so my Mum had to come over and help me pack all of the gifts away!

32 Weeks

Today officially kicked off my 32nd week of my pregnancy. Some days it feels as though I've been pregnant for an eternity, and others it feels like it has gone by so quickly. Especially the last two weeks. I started to get worried around the 30 week mark because I felt so unorganised. However, in these past two weeks Luke & I have sorted out the bigger baby items, my favourite being a wooden rocking chair. As well as a new car. And we also organised a new place to live! Moving is generally a stressful event, and we have left it up until the last possible minute before it would be just down right ridiculous to do so. I feel incredibly lucky that I have had a fantastic pregnancy so far. I've had custom illustrations, invitation designs & a six day working week to keep me busy for the most part. So the small discomforts of heart burn, the occasional late night leg cramps, swollen feet at the end of the day and general vagueness commonly referred to as 'baby brain' aren't so bad, and when I do complain I try to remind myself of how horrible it actually can be for some ladies. And if finding it difficult to roll over in bed, or get up off the lounge is the biggest struggle of my day, then things aren't so bad!

So Long February!

Luke & I were talking the other night and mid conversation it dawned on me that at the end of this week it would be March. March! How did the third month of the new year creep up so quickly?! Right from the beginning of my pregnancy the main advice I got was to stay busy, and I am so glad that I have been because the time has just flown by so super quickly. So quickly in fact that this week I hit the 28 week mark and realisation that I need to get organised has officially kicked in! I've been getting two days off during the week now after having only one day off for the past couple of months, and with that extra day I've been able to achieve so much more. This month I've done a couple of my blood tests I've been putting off, booked a bunch of my hospital appointments, finally picked out the pram we're going to get, bought some other baby stuff that isn't in the form of a cute onesie, caught up with a friend for dinner, started to look for a new place to live, made the decision to get a new car, bought said new car, organised a new internet contract & updated my car insurance policy (both for which I'm now saving a bundle on!). I've also been able to cross off so many things on my to-do list such as finishing my cousin's wedding invitations as well as my baby shower invitations, make my friends resume look snappy, finish buying baby presents for some other lovely ladies, cook dinner for my parents, and spend some time planning some new things for this little blog that I've put on the back burner for the past couple of months.

I definitely don't feel as though I have wasted much of my spare time this year, but I do feel as though I achieved a lot more throughout February. And the most important thing I was able to do, was to spend more quality time with Luke. We've both been so busy with work that we have only been able to see each other for an hour or two in the afternoons because of our different work schedules. So for March I intend on making the time to do things rather than leaving it up to chance to have the time for them. See you next year February!

Baby Brain

Lately I've had the worst attention span and memory. The ladies I work with keep telling me I have a case of 'baby brain', and until a week ago I didn't believe them. I wasn't convinced that it was happening to me until a trip to the toilet last week. There aren't any toilets in the cafe I work at, they are a couple of doors down in the arcade. Which is great for when you want to have a break from how busy it can get, but also not so great for when you have to explain where they are all the time. The toilets are just before a set of big exit sliding doors, and last week I was particularly focusing on them. When I turned and stood in front of the bathroom door, I waited for it to slide open for me, even though it isn't a sliding door and I had the key in my hand. This sort of thing is starting to happen to me quite regularly. I was getting my lip gloss out of my bag yesterday at work and the lid of it is a plastic reflective gold and I had a fleeting moment of excitement because I thought it was a chewy caramel eclair. I don't even buy chewy caramel eclairs! These next few months are going to be very interesting!

How Has Your Year Been So Far?

It feels like forever that I've been actually able to use my computer! I mentioned in my previous post that my internet connection was down for almost a month, but as of today it has all been sorted so I'm back in business. Which means that this post is a little late.

I've been trying to work as much as I can before the last month or so of my pregnancy approaches when I might not be able to do as much. So lately I've been working six days a week, and it has really been the best thing for me. During my first trimester I was working around four to five days a week and I found on my days off I would just sleep and eat unnecessarily. I had a conversation with my sister Ash one afternoon where I was telling her how hungry I was and how I had been eating more often and she quickly snapped some sense into me that I wasn't in fact eating for two and I was eating unnecessarily. And I had noticed that I had put on a little bit of weight quite quickly, so even though I thought it was a little snappy initially it was one of the best things she could have said to me. After that I planned my meals more carefully and found that I haven't put on much weight at all. And as of next Friday I'll be six months pregnant, and my baby belly is starting to show now! Keeping busy has definitely made these six months just fly by.

Since the Christmas period I've only had a couple of days off, one being New Years Day in which I got to spend it with Luke. We went out for breakfast, spent a couple of hours with my parents and went on an evening picnic in the park to have our dinner. Dinner picnics are by far my favourite kind of picnic. Luke made a salad, some bruschetta with sour dough toast, he packed some deli delights for himself and I cut up some fruit. The park near our house backs onto the beach so it was nice to eat dinner on a picnic rug by the water. It was especially nice to see families on holidays with their children having dinner picnics, and to think how next summer we'll be able to take our baby on dinner picnics with us.

The only other day I've had free this year was last Friday where Luke & I ventured to Sydney for his birthday. It was a bit of a disastrous day, but for the lovely part of the day we had a nice breakfast together, I bought some cute shoes, and we went to the Francis Bacon retrospective exhibition at the art gallery. Even though a chunk of his paintings he destroyed, he left behind such a great body of work. I haven't always been a fan of his work, but after seeing it all together it made sense and flowed intrinsically. If you're in Sydney while its still exhibiting I would definitely recommend paying it a visit.

So that is what I've been up to so far this year. I'm looking forward to having an afternoon where I can catch up on all your lovely blogs. Leave me a comment if you've found new blogs, stumbled upon old ones or would like me to visit yours. I'll need somewhere to start when I have a spare afternoon later in the week!

Half Way

This week I passed the half way mark of my pregnancy! The first twelve weeks went at a snails pace, but luckily the past six weeks have just flown by. I have been really lucky not to have experienced any morning sickness, and can safely say the two times I have spewed have been a result of me freaking out about swallowing tablets. I have had a couple of migraines and some minor heartburn, but I will happily settle for those rather than a daily session face first in the toilet. We're finding out the sex the day after Boxing Day, despite being told by various people it is one of the greatest surprises in life. I can't wait to find out so we can then start getting cute little outfits and start getting organised for this exciting change. My Mum bought me these white knitted booties for our little winter baby. I've got them on my bed side table and they are just the most delightful thing to see first thing in the morning!

On a different note, lately blogger has been reverting my published posts to drafts, which is super annoying. Does this happen to anybody else?
